Educate and give people information they can use to make smart decisions.

Place taxes on unhealthy foods. Things like fast food, soda, and dessert foods should be taxed heavily so people learn to see them as an occasional luxury item rather than as an everyday thing to eat. The money earned from the tax revenue can be used to help lower the prices of some healthier foods in poorer areas.

This would also have the added benefit of lowering health care costs, since overweight people are among the most expensive to insure.

It isn’t the government’s job to keep people from stuffing their faces. People need to be educated and take responsibility for themselves and their health.

If the gov’t started telling you what to eat it would just evolve into them telling you what toilet paper to use, which gas to buy, how to cut your lawn. Stop it before it even starts and make people accountable for their own health- it’s no place for the government to step in.
